VANCOUVER, BC (February 25, 2016) – Vancouver’s biggest, boldest, and most philanthropic dinner party, DinnerPartyYVR returns to the city on Saturday, April 9th, 2016. Presented by Cressey Development Group, DinnerPartyYVR is a charitable cooking event where local hobby chefs open their homes to host simultaneous dinner parties, all in the name of raising funds for charitable organizations.
Home to a growing array of food and drink events, Vancouver’s culinary scene has flourished in recent years as the city evolves into a foodie mecca. But besides a growing roster of outstanding restaurants, the focus on locally-sourced and healthy eating has also spurred the home chef trend.
As a result, DinnerPartyYVR has doubled in size since launching in 2013, allowing self-made cooks to show off their culinary talents.
“We’ve seen increased demand from both Hobby Chefs and diners year after year,” said Annika Reinhardt, co-creator of DinnerPartyYVR. “This year we have over 500 people participating across the city. Beyond a shared love for food, the vast majority of our hobby chefs report joining because they want to be part of a fun community event, and to raise funds for their chosen charity.”
With 100% of each $50 ticket donated to the host’s chosen charity, this year’s event is estimated to raise over $20,000 for local organizations, four times that of the inaugural DinnerPartyYVR.
Jason Turcotte, Vice President of Development for Cressey Development Group, has a similar motivation for Cressey’s involvement.
“To Cressey, giving back to the community means more than simply writing a cheque,” says Turcotte. “It’s important we help create real impact, connect with the community and get to know those who are doing good around us. DinnerPartyYVR provides an opportunity to help us connect with Vancouverites across the city while raising funds for charity and having fun.”
This year diners can enter to win tickets to a special Cressey Dinner Party hosted by local hobby chef and owner of Two Rivers Meats, Jason Pleym. Diners will be treated to a gourmet meal in Cressey’s Maddox entertainment Suite, with the meal benefiting Atira Women’s Resource Housing Society and the Potluck Café. Tickets are now available at www.dinnerpartyYVR.com. Meals also include a complimentary ride provided by Sober Guys to the to the After Party at MakerLabs which will feature local desserts and entertainment. Diners will enjoy fresh ingredients from Whole Foods Market and beverages courtesy of Howe Sound Brewing, Serendipity Winery, and DRY Sparkling. Additionally, BlueShore Financial and Dana Propp & Bret Schillebeeckx of The Real Results are supporting the event as charitable partners.–30–
After a not so chance meeting at a dining event in 2009, Annika Reinhardt (Social Impact Creator at Social Bites) and Crystal Henrickson (Community Builder, Talent Collective) teamed up as business buddies to bring the biggest, boldest, and most philanthropic dinner party, DinnerPartyYVR, to Vancouver. To date, the annual event has raised more than $30,000 for charities and connected hundreds of hobby chefs, diners, charities, and partners around the dinner table for great conservations, marvelous meals, and a whole lot of fun.
